At the end of the day, a lot of people were surprised that Android 17 wins and is the Sole Survivor of the tournament of power.
The question is, throughout the entirety of the Arc, how the heck did Android 17 got so freaking strong?
Was it just some kind of lazy writing? Were they doing some bad power scaling? Or they were kind of making the character stronger than he should be?
Android 17 Wins The Tournament Of Power
So in the tournament of power especially Android 17 what he did near the end against people like Toppo Jiren was OP. If that is what you think I would be hard-pressed to disagree with you.
I can argue it does seem a little bit contrived that 17 is so powerful. Considering that the last time that we saw Android 17 was actually in a state of combat against Imperfect Cell, way back in Dragon Ball Z. Android 17 Wins The Tournament Of Power
That was several years ago, so is there an actual explanation as to why Android 17 got so strong. specifically, him, besides just it being some kind of lazy writing and lazy scaling.
I think it’s lazy writing…
….Well, there might be, and there may have been a clue sprinkled around the entire Saga that might give us somewhat of an answer? That’s better than just saying oh, it’s just lazy writing.
Again it might still be lazy writing, but there might be something else there. Let me go ahead and tell you what I’m talking about and dig more into it.
A lot of stuff pertaining to Android 17 characters was explained outside of the series like the fact that Android 17 was a park ranger.
He had some children and got married, that was all stated by Toriyama before Dragon Ball super had even come close to even starting.
That was something he said in the interview years ago the same thing with the whole thing about Android 17 wins being slightly stronger than Android 18.
That was also something that was rooted in interviews, whatnot guidebooks, and whatnot of the past.
Biomechanical Android 17 and 18/ Lapis and Lazuli
Artificial humans Android 17 wins and 18 specifically, those two that were created as genetically engineered humans. They were humans first Lapis and Lazuli.
They were enhanced with biomechanical upgrades to make them stronger.
Can Android Train Their Bodies?
So you have to keep all of this in the back of your head as we go through this. Androids can train to get stronger.
We saw Android 17 in Dragon Ball super episodes 86 and 87 when Android 17 won, fought Goku, specifically in episode 86, and forced Goku into turning into Super Saiyan blue.
Now that was absolute Insanity because what this actually means is that somehow Android 17 was able to surpass all of the Cell Saga and Majin Buu Saga Powers.
He went beyond Super Saiyan 2, Super Saiyan 3, and even went beyond Super Saiyan God.
However, if he was not able to do that Goku would have never been forced to go SSJ blue.
When we saw the little fight in this episode it actually ended with Goku saying. “well it looks like you weren’t going full power either.” So that isn’t even the peak of Android 17 powers.
So no matter which way you slice it Android 17 wins wound up becoming one of the most powerful members of universe 7.
It’s a little hard to swallow because well, the last time that we saw Android 17 was actually in a fighting capacity like I said earlier.
All the way back in Dragon Ball Z episode 152 and I’m not counting GT. However, it seems Android 17 has able to take on imperfect Cells and struggling with Cell Saga Piccolo. Suddenly, now we see him on the level of Super Saiyan Blue.
Artificial Human Android 17 Wins The Tournament Of Power
So what could have happened while we know that artificial human is otherwise known as Android or in some rare subtitle versions and some rare translation.
We know that they don’t have Zenkai they don’t get stronger when they come close to death or when they’re in a battle like the Saiyans door like Hit does.
That’s not how they get stronger but we do know that they can train.
The only thing that logically makes any sense here is that Android 17 went through some of the most arguings intense training in the history of Dragon Ball to be able to get this strong.
We know that at the end of the Cell Saga after Cell was Defeated, they wish to Shenron to resurrect those killed by Cell, and Android 17 was reborn.
That was actually shown in Toriyama manga but it certainly did happen when we saw Android 17.
Android 17 makes a real brief Cameo appearance in the Buu Saga to give Goku some of his energy, and as I said during that time at some point we don’t know exactly when this happened.
