One of the key aspects in the promotion of Dragon Ball Super Broly has been that Goku, Vegeta, and Broly are linked by Faith.
They are destined to do battle, and I want to get into really How Deep The Story Goes. As well as how Toriyama is using causality to tell the story.
But first I want to kind of go back to the original promotional materials we got before Broly was revealed.
We knew for months that this movie was going to be about the Saiyans.

I think a lot of people including myself assume that when Toriyama was discussing the origin of the Saiyans.
We all thought of old stuff before the event of the demise of Planet Vegeta.
I know a lot of folks were assuming that Yamoshi was going to be in this film. We were wondering if they were going to show us the universe 7 Planet Sadala or Maybe the Safari.
There were all kinds of theories that were being tossed around about the movie.
Then, we found out it was Broly. So I think a lot of us misinterpreted with Toriyama was talking about. It’s not that he was saying or what they were saying what the movies about the origin of the Saiyan race necessarily. It’s more so about the origin of Goku, Vegeta, and Broly and how their Destinies have become intertwined with each other.

Now, what does this mean? Well, first and foremost you have to take one thing into account.
We are going to be basing this on the Dragon Ball Minus series of events. By now whether you like it or not, Toriyama is going with the story that he wrecked on Dragon Ball Minus.
Goku Vs Broly Dragon Ball Movie Broly
As opposed to the story that was told in the original Dragon Ball Z television special. Featuring the father of Goku and his wife Gine. In this version of the event, Bardock was already suspicious that Frieza was going to do something.

And does he sent baby Kakarot away, both Bardock and his wife sent him away to protect Goku. In a very much a Superman farewell fashion.
At the same time with all of these events were taking place, and the destruction of Planet Vegeta was imminent by Frieza. Goku had been sent to Earth.
Vegeta was off on another planet with Raditz in Dragon Ball Minus. And we are now finding out according to Toriyama, that Broly was exiled from planet Vegeta.
While Paragus is with him on a planet far away in the distant sides of the Galaxy. Now we know that at some point Friez’a forces are going to find Broly, and that’s how Broly’s character and Paragus end up being a part of this story.
Once again reuniting with Goku images the Saiyans that really don’t really know each other. But there is a connection, and that is entirely based on Destiny and fate. That is what intertwines these characters together. It is not so much just Destiny and fate and the causality of the event that took place in the past, present, and future.
It’s a decision that was made by Goku and also by Frieza himself. In fact, when you really Dell deeply. Frieza is the main connecting peace between these three characters.
If we look at the Dragon Ball minus series of events, had Bardock never suspected that Frieza was going to do something Shady. There is almost a guarantee that Goku would have perished with Planet Vegeta alongside other members of his race.
Goku Vegeta, And Broly
And never go to earth. Now, had Goku never come to Earth, he would have never saved the world and never become the main hero of Dragon Ball. That much is obvious, but that being said. Had Goku not come to Earth, Raditz would have probably never investigated Earth trying to find his brother.
And if it wasn’t for the fight between Goku, Piccolo, Raditz. Vegeta and Nappa would have never known about the Dragon Balls. Which is what triggers them to come to Earth, seeking immortality.
Remember, we find out that the Saiyans had no idea about the Dragon Balls or about the importance of them. Or what they could do on Earth.
If it wasn’t for Raditz on his deathbed telling Piccolo that they were listening, and they heard everything about these magical wish-granting orbs.
That we’re going to be used to bring Goku back to life. So that is what ended up leading to Vegeta coming to Earth. When Vegeta comes to Earth he fights Goku. Goku spares Vegeta because he wants to fight him again.

That would then segue into the Namek Saga or the Frieza Saga. Where we are introduced to Frieza and found out that he’s been closely tied with the entire race for several years. Then as the arc progress, we found out that he was the one who destroyed Planet Vegeta.
Now in the original version of the event, it was all his decision it was all his paranoia but then the Toriyama retcon virus spread once again. And with the introduction of Beerus.
They changed it to wear now Beerus was somehow influencing Frieza or at least involved in the decision to destroy Planet Vegeta.
Goku Vs Broly Dragon Ball Super Movie
I still think that Frieza ultimately did it because of his own fear of a rebellion of the Saiyans and of course the rumors of this Legendary Super Saiyan.
Densetsu No Supa Saiyajin. I think Beerus may have approved of it. I don’t think Beerus really cared that much either way but nonetheless, it’s the building event that happened. Goku and Vegeta being two of the final survivors and, of course, there are other ones out there too like Raditz and Nappa who end up dying anyway.
And Vegeta’s little brother, well let’s not even talk about him because Lord knows where the heck he’s been. I think Toriyama might have forgotten about him too anyway.
So, Goku ends up defeating Frieza, but he does not kill him. Goku thought he killed him but he didn’t.
Frieza comes back and it winds up being the Next Generation the grandson of King Vegeta.
Trunks from the future, that ultimately sends Frieza away forever. Or so we thought until he was brought back to Resurrection F. Even though I think it would have been a lot better if it would have been Vegeta to finish off. The fact that it was Trunks who did it originally in Dragon Ball Z. The grandson of King Vegeta, the son of Vegeta.
I think it’s still a proper ending to that character. Plus Trunks also killed King Cole, but anyways on the surface. Resurrection F didn’t really add much to the story at all.
We had new Transformations from Goku Vegeta and Frieza. Also, we had some interesting fights here and there is a big rematch but it did not really do anything new.
Except for the fact that Goku discovered that Frieza could be a very dangerous foe.
Or Possibly a very dangerous Ally. Which was somewhat foreshadowed in the film. But not purposely, fast forward to the tournament of power they are down one member.
Goku decides to get Frieza and at the end of the day. Although all of his friends were chastising Goku for making the decision to pick Frieza to come back and help them out.
At the end of the day, he was actually right. Because it was Goku and Frieza working together at the end of Dragon Ball Super episode 131.
Of course, when they fought Jiren, it was them eliminating Jiren together that was the entire reason as to why Universe 7 wound up winning.
So, at the end of the day, even though bringing Frieza back was a bad decision. On the surface, it will end up being a good decision. And as a result of that, we sprawl Frieza back to life.
Had Goku never brought Frieza back to life. It’s possible Universe 7 would have never won that battle if possible Universe 11 would have been to Victor’s.
We don’t know we may never know it’s interesting what if. That being said Frieza coming back to life which was ultimately a decision that Goku made in bargaining with Frieza.
Is the entire reason as to why Broly is even part of the story, because we now know based on all the information we’ve gotten.
That Frieza is the finds find Broly and Paragus and that brings him to Earth at some point in the film.
To do battle with Goku and Vegeta. So even though Goku may have had good intentions. He may have also unleashed the beast. He may have been the one to have been the indirect Catalyst for Broly even being a threat to these guys.
This is a recurring theme over and over again in Dragonball. Had Goku never come to Earth Raditz and Vegeta may have never come to Earth either.
At least not when they did maybe several years later. And if Goku never beat the Red Ribbon Army. Then the Androids would never be a thing. And Cell wouldn’t have been a thing either.
That’s what also cause a lot of problems had Goku never come back to life in the Buu Saga. Vegeta would not become so obsessed with fighting him again that he allowed Babbidi to take over his mind.
Thus give him that power Boost he needed to fight Goku. If they had never fought in the Buu saga.
Majin Buu would never have got enough energy to be released. So Goku very often is the cause of these problems, and even though he doesn’t mean it. Even though he means well, had Goku never made that deal with Frieza.
Frieza would have never found Broly. They would have never come to earth, and the event of this movie that is probably wouldn’t have happened.
So at the end of the day, Goku, Vegeta, and Broly are indeed linked by Destiny.
They were destined to fight. The events of Dragon Ball went the way they should have gone, to lead to this battle. That’s always how Dragon Ball has been.
There’s always been causality and causation in the series. It is just another example of it but at the end of the day, Goku and Frieza seem to be the cause of this problem.
The problem is the rise of Broly for the upcoming movie. Let me know what you guys think and the future of Goku, Vegeta, and Broly in the coming Movie.
I would love to hear your thoughts, so I can share my thoughts with you as well. Also, please share and like this post if you find it interesting.
